My name is Thomas Jansson and I was born and raised in Copenhagen where I have lived all my life except 6 months in which I studied on the Arctic island Svalbard. Currently I am living together with my girlfriend Pernille Petersen (claissical flute player) in Copenhagen. I have always been very interested in computers and science and by studying physics and later geophysics I had the possibility to combine these two subjects.
Currently I work at Schlumberger as a geophysicist and Linux system administator, which is a quite ideal combination in my opinion. A typical day of work could either be spent doing wavelet extraction on seismic data or writing a munin plugin to various services on the servers.
In 2006 I started a IT consultant company, but closed it again in late 2009 when I started in Schlumberger. I still do a lot of IT and recently became a Red Hat Certified Technician (It didn’t manage to get the RHCE certification this around). While I studied obtained 7 years of experience as editor and editor-in-chief of the Niels Bohr Institute sponsored magazine Gamma. When I am not doing physics or computers I enjoy sports as badminton and general fitness to avoid becoming the stereotypic image of an overweight IT guy, but also enjoy photography and traveling.
